What They Are Looking For
The business is seeking an experienced and commercially strategic Commercial Lead to support major data centre programmes in Amsterdam. This senior role holds full commercial responsibility for substantial M&E packages and reports directly to senior leadership within the region.
The appointment exists to strengthen commercial oversight on fast-track technical projects and to support a growing delivery team in one of Europe’s most active data centre hubs. The successful candidate will take the lead on contractual governance, financial strategy, and the commercial performance of all allocated M&E scopes.
This role is ideally suited to either an established Commercial Manager or a high-performing Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor seeking the next step into leadership. Given the international roster, the position requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a proactive commercial mindset.

Responsibilities

Lead commercial strategy and performance for major M&E packages on a large-scale data centre site.

Administer and interpret main contracts and subcontract agreements, ensuring strict compliance and effective commercial governance.

Manage variations, change orders, and claims, ensuring timely negotiation and robust entitlement protection.

Produce detailed CVRs, cash flow forecasts, risk registers, and senior-level financial reports.

Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract placement, commercial administration, and payment processes.

Provide leadership and mentorship to the onsite QS team, promoting a proactive and disciplined commercial approach.
Criteria for the Role

Experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor within a subcontracting or main contracting environment.

Strong background in M&E systems with experience delivering commercial management on data centres, pharmaceutical, or fast-track technical projects.

Excellent financial and contractual acumen, with strong negotiation and analytical capability.

In-depth understanding of international contract structures, including FIDIC.

Strong communication skills and full flexibility to work on a 10:4 rotation with international travel.

Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
