About the Role

About Our Client

We are partnered with a respected specialist M&E subcontractor delivering major mission-critical engineering packages for leading international clients. Operating across Europe, the organisation is renowned for its technical expertise, disciplined commercial governance, and ability to deliver high-performance mechanical and electrical installations within fast-track environments.

Their work spans large-scale data centre developments and other highly technical facilities requiring exceptional precision, strong cost control, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with main contractors and global project delivery teams. With a growing pipeline of hyperscale projects, the business continues to expand its presence across key European locations.

As an employer of choice, the organisation provides a well-structured commercial environment, strong leadership visibility, and long-term development opportunities for ambitious commercial professionals seeking progression into more senior roles.

What They Are Looking For

The business is seeking an experienced and commercially strategic Commercial Lead to support major data centre programmes in Amsterdam. This senior role holds full commercial responsibility for substantial M&E packages and reports directly to senior leadership within the region.

The appointment exists to strengthen commercial oversight on fast-track technical projects and to support a growing delivery team in one of Europe’s most active data centre hubs. The successful candidate will take the lead on contractual governance, financial strategy, and the commercial performance of all allocated M&E scopes.

This role is ideally suited to either an established Commercial Manager or a high-performing Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor seeking the next step into leadership. Given the international roster, the position requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a proactive commercial mindset.

Why This Role Is Unique

This opportunity offers the chance to lead commercial delivery on some of Europe’s most complex and technically demanding data centre projects. With full accommodation and travel provided and a 10:4 rotation allowing structured time back home, the role provides both international project exposure and a balanced working arrangement.

You will take ownership of multimillion-euro M&E packages, influence onsite decision-making, and play a key role in shaping the commercial culture within a specialist contractor experiencing rapid growth across Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial strategy and performance for major M&E packages on a large-scale data centre site.

  • Administer and interpret main contracts and subcontract agreements, ensuring strict compliance and effective commercial governance.

  • Manage variations, change orders, and claims, ensuring timely negotiation and robust entitlement protection.

  • Produce detailed CVRs, cash flow forecasts, risk registers, and senior-level financial reports.

  • Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract placement, commercial administration, and payment processes.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the onsite QS team, promoting a proactive and disciplined commercial approach.

Criteria for the Role

  • Experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor within a subcontracting or main contracting environment.

  • Strong background in M&E systems with experience delivering commercial management on data centres, pharmaceutical, or fast-track technical projects.

  • Excellent financial and contractual acumen, with strong negotiation and analytical capability.

  • In-depth understanding of international contract structures, including FIDIC.

  • Strong communication skills and full flexibility to work on a 10:4 rotation with international travel.

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.

What’s On Offer

A competitive salary of up to €130,000, reflective of your technical and commercial expertise.
Full travel and accommodation coverage as part of the international rotation.
The opportunity to lead commercial delivery on cutting-edge hyperscale data centre projects in a major European hub.
A senior leadership position within a specialist multinational contractor offering significant long-term progression.
