About the Role

About Our Client

We are partnered with a highly respected European Tier 1 contractor renowned for delivering complex building and civil engineering projects across multiple regions. With a strong market presence and a reputation for technical excellence, the organisation consistently delivers large-scale developments for blue-chip clients, supported by robust governance and sophisticated commercial systems.

Their portfolio spans major commercial construction, mission-critical facilities, and multidisciplinary civil engineering projects. Operating at scale, they manage intricate groundworks, utilities, infrastructure, and integrated building solutions requiring advanced planning, commercial rigour, and high-performance project leadership.

Senior professionals value the organisation for its financial stability, visibility to executive leadership, and the opportunity to influence major project outcomes. The business promotes autonomy, professional development, and long-term career advancement for high-calibre commercial leaders.

What They Are Looking For

The organisation is seeking an experienced and strategically minded Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function for major civil engineering and infrastructure packages on flagship commercial builds in Dublin, including data centre developments. This senior appointment reports into regional commercial leadership and plays a pivotal role in shaping commercial strategy, governance, and delivery outcomes across a high-value project portfolio.

This role has been created to strengthen commercial oversight of increasingly complex civil scopes and to support the growth of the contractor’s commercial division in Dublin. The successful candidate will influence procurement strategy, risk management, financial reporting, and the development of commercial teams aligned to large infrastructure packages.

Strong communicators with a balance of strategic insight and hands-on leadership will excel. Those who enjoy contributing to board-level reporting while maintaining close engagement with project teams will thrive in this fast-paced and technically challenging environment.

Why This Role Is Unique

This opportunity offers the ability to shape the commercial performance of some of Dublin’s most significant building and civil engineering schemes. The role provides meaningful exposure to major project decision-making, senior leadership visibility, and a clear pathway into broader commercial leadership or director-level progression.

You will influence commercial strategy on complex, mission-critical infrastructure packages and play a central role in the contractor’s continued growth within the high-demand data centre and commercial construction markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic commercial oversight for large civil, groundworks, and infrastructure packages on commercial and data-led projects.

  • Lead the governance and administration of major contract forms including GCCC, FIDIC, and JCT.

  • Take full accountability for civil scope financial reporting, including forecasting, budget preparation, and CVRs.

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks; oversee claims, variations, and dispute resolution.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop QS teams assigned to civil engineering packages.

  • Manage high-value procurement strategies for specialist subcontractors.

  • Coordinate commercial interfaces between civil infrastructure elements and building/MEP works.

  • Support senior management with commercial strategy, reporting, and decision-making.

Criteria for the Role

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Tier 1 building or civil contracting environment.

  • Strong track record in civil engineering delivery, including groundworks, utilities, concrete structures, and foundations.

  • Experience in data centres, pharmaceutical, or major commercial projects is advantageous.

  • Expert knowledge of GCCC, JCT, and FIDIC contract structures.

  • Strong commercial, financial, and negotiation skills with the ability to drive profitable outcomes.

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; chartership (SCSI/RICS) is highly desirable.

What’s On Offer

A competitive salary of up to €120,000, reflective of your seniority and civil engineering experience.
A strategic leadership role within a globally recognised Tier 1 contractor operating at the forefront of Dublin’s high-growth data centre construction market.
Significant opportunities for long-term career progression and exposure to large-scale, technically complex building and infrastructure projects.
