About the Role

About Our Client

We are partnered with a globally recognised Tier 1 civil engineering contractor with a substantial presence across Ireland and Europe. Known for delivering complex, high-value infrastructure schemes, the organisation has built a reputation for technical excellence, strong governance, and the ability to secure and execute major public and private sector programmes. Their expertise spans rail, highways, water, and multi-disciplinary civil engineering, supported by mature commercial systems and experienced leadership teams.

The business manages some of the most significant infrastructure opportunities in the Irish market and continues to invest heavily in its pre-construction and work-winning capabilities. With a strong pipeline of major tenders and framework opportunities, the organisation remains a destination for senior professionals looking to influence industry-defining projects.

As an employer of choice, the company offers a stable and well-resourced environment, direct visibility to executive decision-makers, and the opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping future tender success across mission-critical infrastructure sectors.

What They Are Looking For

The organisation is seeking a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Estimator to lead the estimating function for major civil engineering tenders across Ireland. This senior role is central to the contractor’s work-winning strategy and will operate as a key member of the pre-construction leadership team in Dublin, collaborating closely with commercial, planning, design, and operational specialists.

The role exists to strengthen the company’s competitive position in securing large-scale infrastructure schemes—particularly rail, road, and water/utility projects. The successful candidate will take ownership of first-principles estimating, risk evaluation, supply chain engagement, and the presentation of commercial strategies at executive adjudication level.

This is a role suited to a confident, analytical, and highly detail-driven senior estimator who thrives in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments and is motivated by shaping strategy for major tenders.

Why This Role Is Unique

This appointment provides a rare opportunity to influence the commercial strategy of some of Ireland’s most significant civil engineering tenders. You will hold a pivotal role in the decision-making process, engaging directly with senior leadership and shaping submissions for multi-million euro programmes.

With exposure to major national infrastructure bids, you will gain exceptional visibility across the business and a clear route to further pre-construction or estimating leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the estimating process for major civil infrastructure tenders across rail, roads, and water/utility sectors.

  • Prepare detailed first-principles estimates covering all elements of civil engineering works, including temporary works, materials, plant, and specialist subcontractors.

  • Analyse tender documents, specifications, and contract conditions to identify commercial, technical, and contractual risks.

  • Work closely with planning and operations teams to align construction methodologies and programme requirements with accurate cost submissions.

  • Direct supply chain engagement, issuing enquiries, evaluating quotations, and negotiating pricing at a senior level.

  • Prepare clear, structured breakdowns and present the commercial position, risk allowances, and strategic recommendations at adjudication meetings.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and intermediate estimators within the team.

Criteria for the Role

  • Demonstrable experience as a Senior Estimator within civil engineering and large-scale infrastructure settings.

  • Track record of estimating major rail, road, water, or heavy civil schemes.

  • Strong commercial insight with excellent analytical, numerical, and negotiation skills.

  • Robust understanding of contract risk allocation under GCCC or NEC/FIDIC contract frameworks.

  • Proficiency in estimating software platforms and advanced Excel capability.

  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

What’s On Offer

A competitive salary of up to €120,000 plus vehicle provision, along with flexible working options.
A senior strategic role within a globally recognised Tier 1 contractor, influencing major infrastructure tenders across Ireland.
Long-term progression opportunities within an expanding pre-construction and work-winning environment.
