What They Are Looking For
The contractor is seeking an experienced and highly capable Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its expanding commercial team in Portugal. This role sits within the leadership structure of major Hi-Tech project delivery, reporting directly to senior commercial management and collaborating closely with project directors, technical specialists, and international client teams.
The role exists to bolster commercial leadership on a growing pipeline of complex projects across Europe, ensuring rigorous contract administration, robust financial control, and effective management of specialist subcontractors. The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding commercial outcomes, shaping contractual strategies, and supporting major project decisions.

Responsibilities

Take full commercial ownership of major project packages or full project scopes within large Hi-Tech facilities.

Administer and manage international contract forms, including FIDIC and other bespoke structures.

Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and detailed CVRs for reporting to senior leadership.

Lead the management of claims, variations, and contractual changes, ensuring accurate entitlement evaluation and negotiation.

Oversee procurement, negotiation, and administration of specialist international subcontractors and suppliers.

Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks associated with fast-track, high-specification construction environments.
Criteria for the Role

Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a Tier 1 main contractor or specialist technical contractor.

Strong background in delivering commercial management on data centres, pharmaceutical plants, advanced manufacturing, or semiconductor facilities.

Expert knowledge of international contract forms such as FIDIC or NEC.

Strong commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills with the ability to influence large-scale project outcomes.

Willingness to relocate or base yourself in Portugal to support regional delivery.
