About the Role

About Our Client

We are partnered with a major tier-one contractor with a long-standing reputation for delivering some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure programmes. The business holds a strategic position within the national defence, nuclear and regulated sectors, operating as a trusted delivery partner to government bodies, asset owners and major operators.

With an extensive portfolio spanning nuclear new build, decommissioning frameworks, specialist infrastructure and mission-critical assets, the organisation is known for its rigorous governance, commercial discipline and deep technical capability. Their London operations support a significant pipeline of nationally important programmes where long-term commercial oversight, risk management and stakeholder alignment are essential.

Their nuclear portfolio comprises high-security, highly regulated and technically advanced environments, requiring exceptional attention to cost assurance, commercial strategy, contract administration and risk mitigation across multi-year, multi-stakeholder frameworks.

The Opportunity

The contractor is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take a key leadership role within its London-based infrastructure division, supporting major nuclear projects and frameworks across the UK. This opportunity is suited to a commercially strong, detail-driven professional who thrives in complex, regulated delivery environments and is comfortable leading commercial strategy, governance and performance across multi-disciplinary teams.

You will work closely with programme leadership, commercial directors, client representatives and delivery partners, ensuring commercial outcomes are robust, compliant and aligned to contractual obligations and long-term programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial management, governance and reporting across major nuclear infrastructure projects and frameworks.

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies, forecasts, risk registers and cost controls aligned with programme requirements.

  • Oversee contract administration, change management, compensation events, valuations and payment processes.

  • Provide commercial assurance, risk analysis and performance reporting to senior management and client stakeholders.

  • Lead commercial negotiation, dispute resolution and stakeholder engagement across complex workstreams.

  • Manage and mentor commercial teams to ensure consistent standards, compliance and high-quality output.

  • Support procurement activities, subcontractor management, cost benchmarking and value optimisation initiatives.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, security and commercial governance frameworks within nuclear and defence environments.

Required Experience & Background

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior QS within a major contractor or tier-one delivery environment.

  • Strong background in nuclear, defence, regulated infrastructure, energy or similarly complex technical sectors.

  • Deep understanding of NEC contracts, commercial governance, risk management and change control.

  • Demonstrable experience leading multi-disciplinary commercial teams on large, long-term programmes.

  • Confident operating within highly regulated, secure and multi-stakeholder settings.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related field; MRICS or equivalent advantageous.

  • Exceptional analytical, contractual and negotiation capability.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and engage clients at all levels.

  • Strong leadership capability with a focus on mentoring, team development and consistent commercial performance.

  • High attention to detail, strong judgement and the ability to operate within complex governance structures.

What’s On Offer

  • A senior commercial leadership role within a high-profile, nationally significant nuclear programme.

  • The opportunity to shape commercial strategy and performance on complex, long-term infrastructure projects.

  • Competitive salary, benefits and long-term career development within a top-tier contractor.

  • Exposure to major frameworks and strategic partnerships across the nuclear and defence sectors.

  • A stable, well-resourced delivery environment with strong technical and commercial leadership.
