The Opportunity

The business is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its Birmingham team, supporting the cost management of major high-end residential and mixed-use projects across the Midlands and wider UK. This is a key opportunity for an ambitious QS who wants to develop their career within a high-performing consultancy while gaining exposure to large-scale, design-led developments.

You will work alongside senior commercial leaders, project managers and designers, contributing to all pre- and post-contract stages and helping clients drive value, manage risk and deliver projects to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the full cost management lifecycle across high-end residential and mixed-use schemes.

• Prepare detailed cost plans, feasibility studies and estimates from early concept through detailed design.

• Assist with procurement strategies, tender documentation, bid analysis and contractor negotiation.

• Manage valuations, variations, risk registers, cost reporting and post-contract commercial administration.

• Provide clear, evidence-based commercial advice to clients, design teams and internal stakeholders.

• Contribute to value engineering exercises and benchmarking work to optimise project outcomes.

• Maintain compliance with internal governance frameworks and support senior QS/Commercial Lead activities.

Required Experience & Background

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.

• Track record of working on residential, high-end residential, mixed-use or design-led development projects.

• Strong grounding in both pre-contract and post-contract cost management.

• Capable of operating in a client-facing environment with multiple stakeholders.

• Strong technical understanding of cost planning, procurement and commercial management.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; working toward MRICS is advantageous.

• Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills.

• Ability to interpret design information and collaborate effectively with architects and engineers.

• Detail-driven with strong organisational and reporting capabilities.

• Confident, professional and able to engage with clients at all stages of the project lifecycle.
