The Opportunity
The business is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its Birmingham team, supporting the cost management of major high-end residential and mixed-use projects across the Midlands and wider UK. This is a key opportunity for an ambitious QS who wants to develop their career within a high-performing consultancy while gaining exposure to large-scale, design-led developments.
You will work alongside senior commercial leaders, project managers and designers, contributing to all pre- and post-contract stages and helping clients drive value, manage risk and deliver projects to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities

Support the full cost management lifecycle across high-end residential and mixed-use schemes.

Prepare detailed cost plans, feasibility studies and estimates from early concept through detailed design.

Assist with procurement strategies, tender documentation, bid analysis and contractor negotiation.

Manage valuations, variations, risk registers, cost reporting and post-contract commercial administration.

Provide clear, evidence-based commercial advice to clients, design teams and internal stakeholders.

Contribute to value engineering exercises and benchmarking work to optimise project outcomes.

Maintain compliance with internal governance frameworks and support senior QS/Commercial Lead activities.
Required Experience & Background
-
Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.

Track record of working on residential, high-end residential, mixed-use or design-led development projects.

Strong grounding in both pre-contract and post-contract cost management.

Capable of operating in a client-facing environment with multiple stakeholders.

Strong technical understanding of cost planning, procurement and commercial management.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; working toward MRICS is advantageous.

Strong analytical, numerical and communication skills.

Ability to interpret design information and collaborate effectively with architects and engineers.

Detail-driven with strong organisational and reporting capabilities.

Confident, professional and able to engage with clients at all stages of the project lifecycle.
