The Opportunity
The consultancy is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Edinburgh office, supporting the delivery of major projects across both public and private sectors. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of key workstreams, work closely with senior leadership and play a visible, client-facing role across a variety of project types.
You will support cost planning, procurement, commercial management and risk governance across a diverse portfolio while contributing to the growth and capability of the Edinburgh team.
Key Responsibilities

Lead pre- and post-contract cost management across major commercial, residential, mixed-use or public-sector projects.

Prepare detailed cost plans, estimates, feasibility studies and benchmarking analyses.

Manage procurement strategies, tender documentation, bid evaluation and contractor negotiations.

Oversee contract administration, valuations, variations and cost reporting throughout project delivery.

Provide clear commercial and strategic advice to clients, design teams and project stakeholders.

Contribute to value engineering workshops, risk reviews and commercial governance processes.

Support the development of junior team members and act as a key point of contact for project clients.

Uphold the consultancy’s standards, processes and reputation for high-quality advisory services.
Required Experience & Background
-
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a consultancy environment.

Track record delivering projects in sectors such as commercial, residential, mixed-use, education, public-sector estates or similar.

Strong technical grounding in cost planning, procurement and post-contract commercial management.

Confident operating in client-facing roles and managing multiple project workstreams.

Solid understanding of standard forms of contract, particularly NEC and JCT.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar; MRICS or working toward chartership advantageous.

Strong analytical, numerical and communication capabilities.

Ability to interpret design information accurately and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Professional, detail-driven and capable of providing confident commercial counsel.

A proactive mindset and strong organisational skills.
