About the Role

About Our Client

We are partnered with a highly specialised Tier 3 subcontractor operating across Dublin and major European construction hubs. Known for delivering complex mechanical packages within challenging environments, the business has built a strong reputation for technical excellence, precision engineering, and disciplined commercial performance.

Their core capability spans specialist piping, plumbing, utilities, and process-driven installations for high-value projects where quality, coordination, and commercial rigour are paramount. With growing demand across both Irish and international markets, the organisation continues to expand its commercial and estimating teams to support strategic growth.

The business offers a dynamic and flexible working environment, giving senior commercial professionals the opportunity to shape their role, influence project outcomes, and contribute directly to business performance.

What They Are Looking For

The organisation is seeking a commercially astute Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join its Dublin-based team. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, this role offers a rare level of flexibility—allowing the successful candidate to specialise in either Estimating or Project Delivery, depending on their strengths, preference, and long-term career aspirations.

This appointment supports increased project activity across Ireland and mainland Europe, requiring a senior commercial professional capable of managing complex mechanical scopes, pricing intricate tenders, and delivering robust commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.

The role will suit a confident communicator with strong mechanical systems knowledge and a proactive approach to managing clients, subcontractors, and internal teams within a fast-paced specialist environment.

Why This Role Is Unique (Impact & Influence)

This is a high-impact senior role offering the ability to tailor your commercial focus to your strengths—whether building the estimating function or driving profitable delivery across live projects. You will play a strategic role in shaping commercial outcomes, influencing business performance, and supporting continued expansion across Ireland and Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Apply strong commercial experience with mechanical systems including piping, plumbing, utilities, or specialist process packages.

  • Interpret and administer standard contract forms (JCT, NEC, RIAI, FIDIC) across mixed jurisdictions.

  • Develop accurate cost plans and tenders or, where focused on delivery, manage full commercial oversight for assigned projects.

  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills to manage cost control, forecasting, and profitability.

  • Maintain excellent communication with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders to support commercial clarity and alignment.

  • Prepare valuations, variations, commercial reports, and project documentation as required.

Criteria for the Role

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a subcontractor environment, ideally in Ireland or the UK.

  • Strong background in M&E or specialist mechanical packages.

  • Ability to excel in either an estimating-led role or a delivery-focused commercial position.

  • Strong contractual knowledge across JCT, NEC, RIAI, and/or FIDIC.

  • Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.

What’s On Offer

A competitive salary in the €80,000–€100,000 range, aligned to experience and technical expertise.
The opportunity to tailor the role with a defined emphasis on Estimating or Project Delivery.
Exposure to complex, high-value projects across Dublin and European markets.
A senior role within an ambitious, well-respected mechanical subcontractor.
