What They Are Looking For
The organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to play a key commercial leadership role within their Cork-based civils division. Reporting to the Commercial Manager and working closely with Project Directors, this role will assume full commercial responsibility for major water and infrastructure projects.
This appointment supports sustained growth across the Munster region and the increasing complexity of ongoing civil engineering works. The successful candidate will lead commercial strategy, contractual administration, financial governance, and risk management across high-value projects, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and compliance with all client and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

Lead full commercial and contractual management across major water and infrastructure projects, including detailed cost control, forecasting, and CVRs.

Administer and interpret complex contract forms—particularly Irish Public Works Contracts (GCCC) and FIDIC—ensuring full compliance and entitlement.

Identify, measure, value, and negotiate variations, claims, and compensation events to maximise commercial recovery.

Oversee procurement and negotiation processes for specialist civils subcontract packages; manage valuations, payments, and final accounts.

Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, including ground condition issues and scope variations.

Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of the commercial team.
Criteria for the Role

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a major civils or infrastructure contracting environment in Ireland or the UK.

Strong experience managing civil engineering projects, ideally including water, wastewater, networks, or heavy civil infrastructure.

Expert knowledge of Irish Public Works Contracts (GCCC) with practical experience administering them.

Exceptional commercial awareness, financial management capability, and negotiation skills.

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
What’s On Offer
A competitive salary in the region of €75,000 - €90,000, dependent on experience and capability.
